The hip-hop world has lost a pioneer today. Adam Yauch, who was one-third of the legendary group The Beastie Boys, died today at the age of 47 from cancer.
The Beastie Boys shot to fame in the late 1980s after dropping Licensed to Ill, which featured the party anthem “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)” Adam, aka MCA, along with group members Mike D and Ad-Rock, fused rock and rap in a way that had never been done before, helping to bring hip-hop to the masses. Watch the video for the groundbreaking song below:
